This article is specifically about how to pair our mobile app (and Soundbrenner wearables) to the Cakewalk DAW. You can accomplish this via a USB cable.
What works: Controlling the tempo of your Soundbrenner app and wearables via Cakewalk
What doesn’t work: Controlling the tempo of Cakewalk via your Soundbrenner app and wearables. Subdivision information also cannot be sent due to a limitation of MIDI clock.
Using Cakewalk to control your Soundbrenner wearable:
Step 1:
Make sure your Soundbrenner app is set up to receive external MIDI. Next, launch Cakewalk and open Edit -> Preferences -> MIDI -> Devices. Under Outputs, select your mobile device (this is usually named "MIDI function" by default).
Step 2
Under Project -> MIDI, enable "Transmit MIDI Start/Continue/Stop/Clock".
Next, make sure you enable "Use Start, Never Continue". This will ensure that every time you begin playback, Cakewalk will send a Start signal to your wearables which will trigger them to start vibrating. If you leave this off, DAW sync will not work!
Finally, you also need to select your mobile device under "MIDI Sync Output Ports".
Enter your desired BPM in the Cakewalk transport bar. Your wearables should now begin vibrating whenever you press Play or Record.
Now, you can control the tempo of your Soundbrenner wearable, as well as start and stop the metronome, directly from Cakewalk.
